A friend and I decided to go out to St. Marks today early in the morning. After the success I had a few weekends ago, my friend was itching to go out and catch something.  He does very little salt water fishing, and has never caught a redfish before.  He heard from his boss that there are some trails you can take that would take you out to salt water and fish, if you were willing to make the long trek and had a mountain bike to get you there.  So we decided to give them a shot and packed up our bikes and poles.  We rode approximately 3 miles before we found salt water.  We tried a couple of areas with no luck, so we kept riding further.  At around 4.3 miles we came across an area with a lot of moving water.  I told my friend "This is were you are going to catch your redfish."  Sure enough on his first cast, he hooked up with a nice 22 inch red.

He was using a gold spoon when he caught the red.  I put on a redfish magic, 1/4 ounce with a red head and electric chicken color soft bait.  After a few casts, I hooked into a really nice red.  I was fighting him for a little while when, bam, my line broke.  Go figure.  We kept fishing there, had a few more hook ups, but it was not in the cards for us to land anymore fish.

We seemed to discover a pretty good little spot.  If you are willing to make the trek, it is worth it.  I can't wait to go back out there and try to get some more.

Sounds like you've got a nice honey hole there. Heck of a day when you catch reds using bikes.
