This 9pt was trailing four does and another buck on a deer trail. As he neared my left side I stood up on the stand and shot. I think he was about 35-40 yards away or so. He then circled about fifty yards or so out my right side and stopped in an open area of the woods. I shot again and he fell. Turns out I hit him both times but the second was good for measure.
With only one week to go in general gun I would say it was worth the wait for this guy. Nothing beats getting a nice deer off a trail or in the thick woods when he's after the does.

Nice deer. Going on the wall, I hope? What did you shoot him with?

I kept the antlers, so I might do an antler mount. They'll at least go in my office or at the house. Have one a little bigger already on the wall.
Shot him with an A-Bolt .270 I've had for about 12 years now.

That .270 should be great for the job. I'm just wondering what you are using for ammo if you had to hit him twice.

Hornady Custom 140 grain. I've shot deer with it at 160 yards and dropped them and I've shot some at 50 yards and they ran 50 yards after. Both shots were right on/behind the shoulder. Either way he wasn't going far. The shots were only about 2 inches apart when I looked at the rib cage.

Awesome, man. I saw this pic online, but figured it was from a past season.
