Hello all. My name is Alessandro and I am new to this forum. Me and my wife moved up from S.Florida for college. We love Tallahassee and have been all around town. We both recently got interested in hunting. We have never hunted before and this will be our first season ever. We are looking forward to it so badly. We will hunt waterfowl, deer, and turkey. There is only one problem, we don't know where to start. I met a guy from DuckHuntingChat forums and he was nice enough to take me to Lake Iamonia to scout. So we finally bought a canoe and went scouting this weekend but did not see any Geese. I don't know where else to look because I don't know where to begin. Can someone please point me in the right direction? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I dont know where to go to find any geese, but some ideas for waterfowl might be Lake Jackson, Lake Mickosukee, Lake Seminole (Also might try Lake Ella, Golden Eagle Country Club, Southwood Subdivision )

I think Lake Seminole will be about the only shot you would have at geese, but I might be wrong. If you are using the canoe I think Iamonia would be great since it's electric only during the regular waterfowl season. Jackson would work as well, but I think it gets the most pressure.

Great. Thanks Guys. I guess I will take a trip up to Lake Seminole Friday morning and see if I see any Geese. What is the quickest way to get there from FSU? I heard it spans the Georgia-Florida border so I want to stay in Florida. Also, can anyone tell me which lakes are legal to hunt on besides Carr, Jackson, Iamonia, and Micosukee? Which one is the closest to FSU? I ask because even though I have become familiar with Iamonia and I really like it, I want to know if there is something closer. Also, since I am a beginner, I am going to stay away from the most pressured lakes like Jackson. I heard car is electric motor only too during waterfowl season. Thanks for all the help guys.

| Yes Carr is electric only as well. I think you can hunt Munson which would be close to FSU but I'm not sure. You can hunt Talquin as well. It's not as popular as the other lakes but I'm sure you can find some woodies out there. Also, you can hunt Talquin any day. It's not a Wed, Sat, Sun lake.

| For hunting, we have several management areas around and the Apalachicola National Forest. While there are a lot of people hunting there (and a few crazies like any public ground) there are some great spots if you don't mind getting off the road. Also, since many of the roads have been closed down, you can get to some good areas that are just a few hundred yards off of the road. Most people won't walk that far. Check out www.myfwc.com for all the areas you can hunt and also the many special opportunity hunts you can get in on. There are also many leases available that you can get in. If you want to learn to turkey hunt PM me and I will be more than happy to arrange a time when we can go together. In regards to fishing, the Seinyard in Woodville sells great fried fish!!!

Hey man...I just moved to Thassee as well! I use too hunt in MN and SD all the time untill I moved to Orlando!! Not much hunting there! I really want to get involved again! If you are interested in splitting some time scouting and cost let me know. I have a canoe as well and most hunting gear needed!
