I recently moved to Tallahassee and I was wondering if any of these lakes around here have public docks for people to fish off of. I'm not fortunate enough to be able to have my own boat and I can't always go out on my buddies boat. I've kinda wondered aimlessly around some of the local lakes but I haven't had any luck.

Not too many docks around the area. There are some out at lake talquin you can fish on though. Your best bet may be wading from boat ramps, etc....

Good luck and let us know how you do.

Alright, how bout good spots to fish from shore. I just moved here from Maryland, so the whole thought of alligators and water moccasins sneakin up on me while I'm fishin is a new concept that I'm not used to yet. So that's why I was inquiring about docks to fish from, but if that's not something that I should be all the concerned with than I'm up for fishing anywhere accessible by land. Speaking of alligators, I've lived in Tallahassee for about 8 months now and I have yet to see one are they really not that abundant here.

It's hard to say where to fish from shore since so many of the lakes have too much vegetation around the edges. I know a lot of neighborhoods have lakes that are clean around the edges and have good numbers of bass in them. The only problem with that is you usually have to live in those neighborhoods or be with a resident to fish them.

The gators are here.... You'll see one soon enough. If you do want to see some hit Wakulla Springs State park and go on the jungle boat ride. I would also recommend renting a kayak from Rob down and TNT Hideaway on the St. Marks river. That's a great day paddle up the Wakulla river.

Williams Landing is good for fishing off a pier.
