Anyone been out scouting the lakes? I really haven't had the chance but plan on this weekend. At least to check some GPS cordinates and run into a few woodies and see if are northern friends are starting to arrive.

I'm assuming I'll get a phone call before this scouting trip....

Oh, and the past few times I've been out for redfish, I've seen large flocks of teal and a few redheads.  Thought it was kinda early for the latter, but I've seen 'em.  Nothing to get excited about yet.  I've started to see big groups of mergansers on the holding ponds.  I don't hunt 'em, but based on the usual timing, they are always about a month or so ahead of any respectable numbers of other migrators.

Obsessed: You might have different luck if you scout the Micc in the morning.  I've always seemed to see more birds in the morning earlier on, then that reverses about mid-season.
