I'm curious to see how you do in Horsefly.  I was also considering that club when I thought my current lease would not be available this year.

I've always hunted Gadsden, while I'm not familiar with that club you'll be happy hunting in Gadsden. The rut is normally in early-mid January. Some pre-rutting and good buck movements usually start the week of Christmas and pick up steadily for the next couple weeks. I will say I have taken a buck tailing does as late as February 8th though.

I would just recommend to hit it hard from the week of Christmas through the first week of Feb.

I agree with Cy.  We usually take off the week of Christmas and New Years to hunt.  Most years right around new years we see our peak activity.

That being said, I killed my biggest buck the last Friday of gun season (mid Feb.) a few years ago following a hot doe.

FWIW, our scrapes and the majority of the rubs usually start towards the end of bow season (early-mid November).  Most of the bucks I've seen during archery are still in bachelor groups.  I'm either seeing all does or all bucks, and they typically aren't together.  But, remember where you're seeing the does since come new years the bucks won't be far from them.

Off topic, what doe-in-heat works best for ya'll around Gadsden Co?  I used to use Tinks 69 with okay results, but switched to Beaver's about 5 years ago.  Had amazing results with it.  Does wouldn't come near it, but it was a buck magnet.   A couple years ago Beaver sold out to someone, and I haven't gotten the same results.  Not sure if its watered down or what.  thinking of trying something different this year.
