Curious About Hunting Leases...

I've recently gotten back into shooting after a really long time away. The more time I spend at the range, the more I wish I had a small bit of land where I could go shoot (target practice) and possibly even go after some game. I was thinking that it would be a nice weekend getaway place to take the family and even to start doing some clearing and permaculture planting. Utlimately, we could even possibly build on the property. So, my thoughts were to buy a small bit of acreage (5+ ac) to do all of that.

Then, I heard some stuff about "Hunting Leases" that I didn't know before. Originally I pictured them as run-down cabins in the woods where guys go hangout on weekends a few weeks before and then on weekends during deer season. LOL!

I've since learned that many leases can offer year-round recreational opportunities for the family and for a fraction of the cost of buying property. Other than the lack of long-term ownership and homesteading on the property, it sounds like a hunting lease would meet a lot of my other "needs".

So, here I am asking for more information on hunting leases. I like to target shoot (small caliber - .22 and 9mm), hike, camp, and kayak fish. I'm considering getting an ATV or 2. I have a wife and two daughters. The ideal "hunting lease" for me would:

-Good Hunting (Umm, yeah... ...that would certainly be nice, huh?!)
-Fishing where I could launch my kayak. (Lake, Pond, Creek, River)
-Have a cabin/trailer with electric, running water, plumbing for occasional use.
-Have good trails/roads for hiking and ATV'ing.

Am I dreaming or do these exist with some frequency. Where can I go to find out about what is to be expected and what might be available in the area?

Not only a good Hunting tract but a great recreational tract to be enjoyed by the whole family all year.
Cabin with power. Lots of Deer and Turkeys.
Ducks on the river. Small Dove field & Quail hunting.
2 stocked fish ponds & 3 miles of river frontage.
Great road system. Property divided by the river. 350 acres on one side 500 on the other. $1500 and you pick which side you want to hunt. $2000 and you can hunt both sides. Family membership includes your spouse and everyone under the age of 18 in your family. You are also allowed to carry one guest each time you go.

We have a 562 acre deer and turkey(with a few ducks and hogs) lease in Jefferson County that we need a couple of members for. It is located South of Hwy 27 East of Waukeenah. We have about 10 club food plots/stands that we plant every fall. I will be happy to show anyone interested around the place.

850 acres Thomasville, Ga.

This property is outstanding and loaded with deer, turkeys, dove, ducks and quail. The
property has several creeks running through it. There is 2 1/2 miles of Ochlocknee river
frontage to this property. The property consists of very big mature pines, hardwoods, white
oaks, creeks, river bottoms,etc. This property has an outstanding road system, plenty of
food plots and has been quality managed for the last three years. Last year alone, we let 15 different 8 points and better walk that were only 2 1/2 years old. We killed an 11 point that scored 143" and a 10 point that scored 130". There are some thicker spots on the
property as well as some very clean and quail type blocks with thinned pines and oaks. There
is plenty of room on this property for all hunters to enjoy there hunt and be very
comfortable. There is a small cabin with power. There are 2 nice fish ponds that are fully
stocked with good fish. There is also a 6 acre dove field and the river sloughs are full of
wood ducks.
The property is split by the river. 350 acres on one side and
500 on the other. There are 3 locked gates to enter the property from with combination
locks. This is an annual lease, very nice recreation tract to enjoy all months of the year.
This is by far the best tract of land we have. We have a 10 year lease on this property with
the option to renew. The dues will be due each year by no later that January 25th. If you

900 acres Brooks Ct. Boston, Ga.

900 acres of some of South Georgia's best hunting property. Nothing but big Deer and lots of big Gobblers.
In the last couple of years one 13 point, 2- 12 points, and over a half a dozen nice 8 points have been killed
on this property. Property is located near the Brooks Ct. & Thomas Ct. line off of 84 near Boston, Ga.
