However, they normally start picking up around Christmas through January in Gadsden. I have never hunted that WMA, but maybe someone else will chime in.

Since it's public land you never know who else has been through or pressured that area. You might want to try finding some acorns or water. Perhaps some other trees near you produced more???

RE: Gadsden Deer are moving

Hey there, good to know their moving somewhere! Im new to this forum and might as well be new to deer hunting. I hunt in AppaLACH. NF. WMA, OUT TOWARD THE AIRPORT. tHIS IS MY 3rd. season. Thought I was getting it wired and this yr. been hunting hard scince black powder, Im not seeing onr tenth the deer I was seeing the past two yrs. I see tracks and some droppings but no rubs or scrapes. I know there are no acorns to speak of have the deer vacated the place in search of food or are thwey just not moving durring hunting hrs? If anyone can wshare some knowledge I would surely appreciate it. Like I said ,been hunting hard, seen "a few does" and havnt seen any horns at all! I'm having a European mount made of the skull so I'll ask the taxidermist what he would go once I pick it up. He was a nice buck for me but I doubt he'll score too high.

RE: Gadsden Deer are moving

That is good looking buck, good job. What did he score? We saw a lot of bucks, but no shoters.

I give a try tomorrow. In NW Gadsden they were still chasing past weekend.

Tony R.

RE: Gadsden Deer are moving

Saw a nine point on Saturday at 8:45 am. He's at the processor now!!! :D

This buck had been fighting recently. He had a nice gash on the right side of his nose. His left ear was also split, but that was a much older injury.

Not sure they were moving like they were. He was the only deer I saw all morning. Hopefully the next couple weekends it will pick up again. Seems like there is usually a second rut that comes in that first week of February.... not that I'm complaining. Just didn't see as many has I had the past couple weeks.

RE: Gadsden Deer are moving

Deer is still moving in NW Gadsden, watched 6 pts trailing three doe this past Tu.:D

Gadsden Deer are moving

Those of you that are deer hunting over in Gadsden better get to it if you can.
